Solar Powered Plastics

To recognise Earth Day 2021, we are pleased to announce that Rutland Plastics has generated over 750,000kWh of electricity from our 250kW solar installation on our roof space since we had them installed on our warehouse roof space few years ago. These panels have the capacity to generate 25% of electricity demand at their peak. In addition to generating our own solar electricity we have also switched our supplier to one sourcing electricity generated from natural resources.

Not only do we source our electricity through sustainable methods we also aim to reduce the amount of energy we consume overall. We achieve this through the use of a free air cooling system, smart lighting, daylight factory roof structures, barrel jackets fitted to all moulding machines, real time energy monitoring system and continuous investment in new more energy efficient moulding machines.

Furthermore, we are committed to reducing waste by ensuring that all plastic waste that can be recycled is either recycled on site or through the use of off-site partners. We have also drastically reduced paper waste through implementing ePayslips, cloud based storage and document management.  To demonstrate our commitment to the environment, Rutland Plastics have held ISO14001:2015 in Environmental Management for several years now.

We recognise that our sustainability efforts are one of continuous improvement and we are currently working on mapping our carbon footprint to identify where we can make improvements and reduce energy consumption.
