Here at Rutland Plastics we have learned a lot about all aspects of injection moulding over the past 60+ years and we think we make a great injection moulding partner. We have grown significantly over the years with new facilities, more employees and more customers. However, the business is still privately owned by the same family, with the third generation in charge, and still based in Oakham in Rutland.
Injection moulding is in our DNA, we have an extensive range of moulding machines on site and so have the capability to produce mouldings from 1g to 48Kg in weight and 1.5m x 1.5min size. We have also been involved in the electrofusion methods of joining plastic pipes for many years and as a result of our expertise and research have patented one of these processes. We have the expertise, flexibility and facilities to add the finishing touches required through a suite of additional services such as machining, assembly and warehousing.
Our partnership approach can be seen through our work highlighted in our case studies. We work with many of our customers to help design or redesign their product to achieve the best manufacturing solution. An example of this is with our work with audio equipment specialists, Rega, who wanted to injection mould a dust cover that broke every basic design rule for injection moulding. The dust cover is made out of a clear material with a faultless finish with no draft angles and has sharp corners and edges. Using our combined skills across our departments, we proposed a material which would match the quality and appearance Rega desired and would additionally deliver cost savings. Our 3D printer enabled us to build test samples which allowed us to show Rega our re-design vision in a clear tangible format. This greatly assisted them in visualising our suggestions and agreeing to our recommendations.
We were awarded Investors in People back in 1995 and have since added a number of accreditation’s: Quality Management ISO9001:2015, we have attained Medical Devices Quality Management ISO13485:2016. In addition, we hold the standard for Environmental Management ISO14001:2015 and we are committed to the adoption and promotion of sustainability principles across all company processes. We were recently recognised as a manufacturing hero for our work throughout the pandemic and we are very proud of our contribution to the community effort.
